About Us
Kashka’s of Milwaukee specializes in the custom design of fashionable apparel ranging from bridal and special occasion to investment clothing, as well as the alteration or tailoring of ready-to-wear of any kind. Ever since our opening in 1978, women, and men, of all ages and figures have come to us for our personalized service, expertise, and attention to detail.

Kashka, founder and owner of Kashka’s of Milwaukee, started machine sewing at the age of seven and hasn’t stopped since. She started experimenting with design and fabric early on. In high school she knew that her passion and calling was to have her own seamstress shop where she could put her creativity and skill to work for other people doing what she enjoyed most.

With that goal in mind, Kashka apprenticed with several Milwaukee area tailors. She then worked for two local clothing manufacturers where, among other duties, she designed coats that were manufactured and sold to major retailers. Wanting to get closer to the customer, learn more about what discriminating consumers want and need, she worked as a sales associate for several boutiques and clothing stores. She again applied her design creativity at one boutique by designing, choosing fabric, and sewing a limited selection of cruise wear to add to its line of apparel.

Kashka established Kashka’s of Milwaukee in 1978 on Milwaukee’s South Side, offering dressmaking and other apparel custom design, as well as alterations and tailoring services. In 2005, Kashka’s relocated to its current West Allis location to be more centrally and conveniently located.

Kashka’s CUSTOM DESIGN starts with your inspiration, a concept of garment type, style, and usage that you share with us. From there, we sketch it for you and may recommend modifications that optimize the design to most flatter your figure and personality. We’ll guide you through fabric selection that best suits the final design and the season in which it is to be worn. Once you’ve decided on design details and fabric and we’ve taken your measurements, the rest is up to us. All sewing is done on-site. When you return, Kashka insists that you try on your garment. One fitting or more may be required to meet your, and Kashka’s, exacting requirements. You will walk out with a garment that is unique to you alone in design, fabric, and fit. And, like many of our clients receiving compliments, say “I had it made at Kashka’s”!

Kashka’s CUSTOM DESIGNED BRIDAL GOWNS range from contemporary fashion to traditional to historically-inspired Renaissance to avant-garde rhinestone-studded white leather. Our custom design bridal gowns and special occasion dresses have been presented multiple years on the runway at the Wonderful World of Weddings, which later resulted in interviews with Milwaukee area media featuring select designs. We also custom design dresses for bridesmaids, mother of the bride or groom, flower girls, and mini-brides.

Our expertise extends to ALTERATIONS, TAILORING, and REPAIR services for any kind of clothing made of any kind of fabric, leather, or fur. Alterations are done on premises and crafted invisibly to make the garment appear custom made. Alteration services range from a simple hem to re-sizing and re-styling existing wardrobe.

We offer full-scale ALTERATIONS and bustling on ready-wear BRIDAL gowns, as well as custom made embellishments such as shawls, faux-fur jackets, veils, and crinolines to complete the bridal ensemble.

Over the years, we have also provided ALTERATION services to many Milwaukee bridal salons and boutiques.

Kashka’s of Milwaukee has been in business since 1978 and enjoyed every minute of it!
